INSTALLATION FAQ

Single Computer (non-Network) Installation:
Insert the distribution disk in your CD drive or run the downloaded program file BT.EXE.
The Plexis POS Installer will start automatically. No additional steps are required to install Plexis POS on a single Workstation computer system.

Supported Network Configurations

Server:
Any Windows 2000, XP or Vista computer, dedicated or non-dedicated.
Registers / Terminals / Workstations:
Network Hardware:
Use 100 BASE-T or faster Network Adapters.
* Boot Vista in SAFE MODE first then install Plexis POS.
* Re-Boot Vista in normal mode and run Plexis POS as usual.
Wireless networks are NOT recommended or supported in Plexis POS

Network Installation (Multiple Workstations):
It is recommended that these steps be followed closely. Obtain professional Networking help if required.
1. Install Plexis POS on the computer acting as the server.
2. On the computer acting as a server Share the ENTIRE Plexis POS Folder for use by all Workstations.
Full Read / Write access must be granted on the computer acting as otherwise the Workstations will not be able to connect to the POS system. DO NOT install multiple copies of Plexis POS on the Workstations. Workstations MUST be mapped using the shared directory or folder name on the server.

Network Workstation Computer Setup:
Run Plexis POS from the mapped network drive ONLY. There is no need to have Plexis POS installed on a local Workstation. For example if Plexis POS was installed on the server on a logical drive K: - You must map Workstations to something like "K:\Plexis POS 28". You MUST install the Borland Database Engine (BDE) on EACH Workstation. The BDE can be installed using the distribution CD or can be downloaded from our web site. To install the BDE on a Workstation run the Plexis POS install program on the Workstation accessing the install program from the mapped server drive CD ROM or download. Choose CUSTOM setup and UN-CHECK all options EXCEPT the BDE. Proceed by choosing NEXT until the BDE installs.
* Boot Vista in SAFE MODE first then install Plexis POS.
* Re-Boot Vista in normal mode and run Plexis POS as usual.
